Pour Art: Easier Than You Think
Pour art looks complicated, but it's actually one of the most accessible art forms. No drawing skills needed. No brush technique. Just pour and watch.
What You Need
- Fluid acrylic paint in 3-5 colors
- Silicon oil (for cell effects)
- Canvas or canvas board
- Mixing cups
- Something to elevate your canvas (cups work great)
Or just grab our First Pour Kit — it has everything included.
Step 1: Prep Your Paint
Add 2-3 drops of silicon oil to each color and stir gently. Don't over-mix — you want the oil to create cells, not blend in completely.
Step 2: Layer Your Colors
Pour each color into a single cup, one on top of the other. Don't stir — the layered effect is what creates those beautiful patterns.
Step 3: Flip & Pour
Place your canvas on top of the cup, then flip the whole thing over. Lift the cup slowly and watch the paint flow.
Step 4: Tilt & Spread
Gently tilt the canvas to spread the paint to the edges. The cells and patterns will continue to form as the paint moves.
Step 5: Dry & Admire
Let it dry flat for 24-48 hours. The colors will shift slightly as it dries, and the cells will become even more defined.
